Course Sequencing
In This Section:
The order courses need to be taken in known as course sequencing. The arrows indicate that the course preceding is a prerequisite to the course that follows.
Nutritional biochemistry sequence:
The most critical course sequence is the progression from chemistry to upper division nutrition science courses. It takes a minimum of six semesters (or summer sessions) from start to graduation.
CHEM 110 Chemical Principles
CHEM 202 Organic Chemistry
B M B 211 Elementary Biochemistry
NUTR 445 Nutrient Metabolism I
NUTR 446 Nutrient Metabolism II
NUTR 452 Nutritional Aspects of Disease
* Be sure to check chemistry placement score before attempting CHEM 110. CHEM 101 may be needed first or CHEM 108 may be recommended as a concurrent course to provide extra help.
* If you can not take organic chemistry before or in the 4th semester, students should plan to take it during the summer.
