Promoting Nutrition and Physical Activity Mini-Grants

Mini-Grant Opportunity for Pennsylvania Schools

The Pennsylvania Department of Education, through USDA Team Nutrition funding, announces the availability of funding to help selected schools in Pennsylvania to promote nutrition and physical activity. This funding is being made available through a collaboration with Penn State University known as Project PA. Grants of up to $6000 will be awarded to up to 18 schools on a competitive basis.

If you are interested in applying for one of these grants, please submit an “Intent to Apply” form to Project PA by March 2nd, 2009. Submission of the “Intent to Apply” form does not obligate you to apply for a grant, and it is not a requirement in order to apply, but it will help us anticipate the number of grants we might receive.

Grant applications are due by 5:00 P.M. on March 16, 2009. The grant application submission process is entirely online.

A letter of support from your Superintendent/Chief Administrator must be received by 5:00 P.M. on March 16, 2009.

Letters may be faxed to Project PA at 814-865-5870 or mailed to Project PA, Penn State University, 110 Chandlee Laboratory, University Park, PA 16802

Awards are expected to be announced in early April 2009. The funding period will be April 15, 2009 – June 15, 2010.
