Selection Criteria for the Penn State Nutrition and Dietetic Internship Program

All application packets that are received with a postmark February 15, 2009 will be reviewed. The selection committee considers the following in selecting successful candidates for The Pennsylvania State University:
- strength of undergraduate academic record
- relevant work experience in the field of dietetics
- personal statement
- references
- volunteer and other experiences
- interview
Successful candidates present a well organized packet. Personal and phone interviews will be conducted in the selection process to assist the selection committee in clarifying information presented. Candidates will be contacted by March 6, 2009 if selected for an interview. Interviews will be conducted later in March.
Dietetic internship appointments are awarded without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national or ethnic origin, disability or military service. Marital status, age and geographic area of the applicant are not considered.
Applicants may write to or call the director to discuss any conditions that might involve special accommodations; however, this is not a requirement for admission and will not be considered in the selection process.
Applicants are encourages to visit the facility to discuss the program. However, information from these visits is not used to select applicants, nor is preference given to candidates who choose to visit.
