How to apply

In order to pursue graduate study at the Pennsylvania State University, you must apply to both the Graduate School and the Graduate Program in Nutrition.

The Graduate School

To formally apply to the Graduate School use must complete the Graduate School's on-line application. Below is al link with more information on how to apply and the on-line application. There is a non-refundable fee for this process and applications will not be processed without the application fee.

To apply to the Graduate Program in Nutrition mail the following documents to:

All applicants

  1. Two official transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended, both undergraduate and graduate.
    • Transcript Request Form Type On and Print (.pdf format)
    • International applicants must submit official or attested university records, with certified translations if records are not in English.
    • Notarized copies are not sufficient.
  2. Scores from Graduate Record Examination Aptitude Test (GRE)
  3. Biographical sketch (1-3 pages)
  4. Statement of educational objectives
  5. Three letters of recommendation
    • The Department does not have a specific form for letters of recommendation.
    • Ask the person writing a letter to comment on your strengths and weaknesses, as well as your abilities to complete graduate work.
    • The final letter should be on letterhead stationary.

International applicants only

  1. TOFEL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) for The Graduate Program in Nutrition requires a minimum score of 550 (paper based) or 213 (computer based).
  2. Application for Visa Document/Financial Certification
